The Incredible Hulk (2008)

Universal
The Avengers movie is right around the corner so I watched yet another superhero movie- The Incredible Hulk. This is another movie that sets up the core characters for the Avengers team, and it follows Captain America and Iron Man, with Thor taking place just after this movie. We’ve seen many different actors who you wouldn’t like when they’re angry and in “The Incredible Hulk”, we get Edward Norton in the title role. He leads a cast of Liv Tyler, Tim Blake Nelson, William Hurt, and Tim Roth.

Bruce Banner is living a simple life far away as a factory worker as he tries to control his anger and maybe even find a cure for his condition that turns him into a green monster. It doesn’t last too long though, as the Army comes after him. The movie doesn’t waste much time getting to the action and its pace never lets up. At times it might be hard to keep up with its story but why slow down the ride with things like details?

Edward Norton is great as Bruce, and so are the villains that are after the Hulk- William Hurt and Tim Roth. Both want the Hulk for different reasons; Hurt’s character wants to create more soldiers like the Hulk, while Roth wants to BE the Hulk. Liv Tyler is there too, but she isn’t really worth mentioning.
My only complaint is that the final battle turns an otherwise great action movie into a cartoon. The Hulk vs. the Army mid-movie battle looked great and realistic, but here the Hulk vs. his new enemy looks unrealistic. Perhaps I’m just too picky but it didn’t ruin the movie too much. It’s still a worthwhile superhero movie.
